About Me
I am Michael Brieger. I am an addiction counselor in Durango Colorado. I help people move away from addictive behaviors and towards new possibilities. I specialize in treating teenagers, young adults, adults, and veterans with addictions around mood altering substances. These include, but are not limited to: Alcohol, Prescription drugs, Opioids/Fentanyl, Amphetamines, Marijuana, Ketamine, Kratum, and Nicotine.

In 2012, I committed to service work in the addictions field. or the next five years I worked at Axis health System's Detox unit in the Mercy Medical Complex. Here, I met all sorts of people managing their addiction and mental health challenges. Curiosity was, (and still is), my main vehicle for learning. In my private practice I offer tools and strategies from several evidenced based modalities and traditions with a special focus on resolution of trauma, ptsd, and loss. I love my work!

I earned my BFA degree from Michigan State University in 1988,and earned my CACII/ CAS credential in 2012. Some essential trainings include :
Basic Hospice Training,
TRE (Trauma Release Exercises), and EMDR.
